/// the family project residency ///
a 4 month creative experience for your family.
turning time spent together into something you can keep, forever.
—
for a lot of families, having different generations around each other used to be part of everyday life. grandparents were nearby, people dropped in, children heard the same stories over and over again, and you picked things up just by being there.
now families are spread across different places, everyone has their own lives, and there are fewer reasons for everyone to be in the same room.
the family project residency, is a reason to get your people together to spend proper quality time, and make good memories while you can; whilst simultaneously creating something tangible & sentimental that you can all treasure.
-
your family will spend four months paying attention to each other in a way everyday life rarely allows. you’ll explore where you’ve come from, who you are now, what you know and what you can learn from one another, across generations and in both directions.
there may be things you’ve never asked, stories you’ve never heard, skills you’ve never learned, or parts of each other you’ve simply never had the time to discover. the project gives you a reason to be curious, to share, to have fun and to make space for those discoveries.
each month has a different focus, leading to one shared outcome, your family archive.
-
every family has stories, the ones everyone knows, the ones you’ve never thought to ask, and the ones only one person remembers.
we’ll help you uncover the stories, memories and experiences that make up your family, and record them in the voices of the people who lived them.
-
we’ll have professional photographs of your family as you are now.
everyone together, as well as the smaller relationships within it, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings, cousins, partners, chosen blood, and whoever else makes up your family.
-
you’ll choose something to experience, explore or make together.
it might be a family recipe, a dj night, a dance, a game, a place, a skill, a tradition, or something completely new.
it’s a chance to share what you know, learn from one another and enjoy being together.
-
we’ll bring everything you’ve discovered and created together into one family archive.
your photographs, recorded stories, film and creative work will become a beautifully designed family book and private digital archive, giving you a way to return to this moment and pass it on.
-
whoever you consider family.
that might be your parents, grandparents, children, siblings, cousins, partners, close friends, or people who became family along the way.
everyone doesn’t need to take part in everything. we’ll work around your family and decide together who should be involved at each stage.
-
the project belongs to your family.
your photographs, recordings, film, book and archive are yours to keep. with your permission, parts of the project may also become part of the wider riónce family project, through our films, exhibitions or family project magazine.
you decide what you’re happy to share.
-
the first residency runs from october 2026 to january 2027, with six families.
the next runs from february to may 2027, followed by june to september 2027, with a dozen families.
-
the family project residency is £6,400 per family, for up to eight people.
you can pay £6,400 upfront, or £7,000 by instalments.
this covers the complete four-month experience, including the creative direction, planning, project management, photography, recording, film, family book and private digital archive.
individual family sessions may also be available separately, subject to availability.
-
the first six families will be confirmed through a registration and conversation.
tell us a little about your family, who you’d like to bring and what you’d like to do together. we’ll talk through the residency and the dates, and if it feels right and we have a place for you, we’ll get started.
